1) What is cannabidiol (CBD)? What is CBD oil?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring constituent of industrial hemp plants & cannabis plants. It is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis, and is being scientifically investigated for various reasons.
‘CBD oil’ is a cannabis oil (whether derived from marijuana or industrial hemp, as ‘cannabis’ is the latin genus name for both) that has significant amounts of cannabidiol (CBD) contained within it.
Hempture CBD Oil is all natural, no herbicides, fungicides or chemical fertilisers have been used in the process whatsoever. The plants have been strictly grown organically under EU restrictions.
Our CBD oil has either none or less than the 0.2% THC to meet legal restrictions in Ireland, the EU and the US. Our High Grade CBD Oil contains over 400 phytonutrients including Cannabinoids that are exclusively found in Hemp and one other place – your body.
Our CBD oils are derived from industrial hemp, so they could be considered CBD-rich hemp oil or hemp derived CBD oil. Again, cannabis doesn’t mean marijuana, but is the genus name, and general umbrella term which all forms of marijuana and hemp fall under. The form of cannabis we use for our CBD oils is industrial hemp; we do not sell marijuana.

Our CBD oils contain many different phyto-cannabinoids, most notably cannabidiol (CBD), CBC, CBG, CBN, and probably others yet to be adequately identified. In addition to the cannabinoids present in our industrial hemp oil extracts, there are also many other types of natural molecules and phyto-chemical compounds such as amino acids, carbohydrates, vitamins (including B1, B2, B6, D, & E), fatty acids (including omega 3 & 6), trace minerals (including iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, & potassium), carotene, chlorophyll, flavanoids, ketones, nitrogenous compounds, alkanes, alcohols, glycosides, pigments, hemp seed oil, water, and terpenes.
The most common terpenes in our CBD oils are Myrcene, Beta-caryophyllene, Terpinolene, Linalool, alpha-Pinene, beta-Pinene, Nerolidol og Phytol, trans-alpha-Bergamotene, Limonene/beta-Phellandrene (Co-elution), alpha-Humulene, (E)-beta-Farnesene, and delta-3-Carene.
3) Why are hemp derived cannabidiol (CBD oil) products so expensive?
A supercritical CO2 oil extraction is performed on the stalks and seeds of mature industrial hemp plants, and the resulting hemp oil is analyzed in a laboratory through an HPLC test. Then the raw CO2 extracted hemp oil is further refined at a GMP certified facility. The purified hemp oil is then again analyzed for it’s potency and purity. And then turning this high cbd, hemp oil extract into our final cbd oil blends is another additional process that takes time and resources. And then a final testing is performed on the finished cbd oil blends in Ireland.
These necessary steps to ensure ultimate potency and purity throughout each stage of the process, and the facilities that are required to perform all the steps, all add up to hemp derived cannabidiol (CBD Oil) products being very costly to manufacture.
We hope to see the cultivation of industrial hemp become fully legal worldwide. There are small steps being taken in this direction, and we are hopeful that process will continue favorably. This would lead to a dramatic decrease in cost for both the manufacturers and consumers of Hemp products, including Hemp CBD oil.
4) How does CBD oil work?
At one point we had an elaborate answer written for this question, but for precautionary reasons we have deleted this from our website. Please research cannabidiol and CBD oil through other trusted resources to educate yourself as to how cannabidiol and hemp may effect the human system.
5) What is the legality around CBD & Hemp?
We GUARANTEE Hempture Hemp oil products are legal to consume, sell, and possess both here in Ireland and in many other EU countries. Hemp oil is a dietary ingredient that is permitted for use in or as a dietary supplement. Industrial hemp products, like our hemp oils, that have been grown in Ireland or EU imported through the proper means are exempt from marihuana and THC laws in EU Schedule. Depending on batch our CBD oil has none or less than the 0.2% THC or less to meet legal restrictions in Ireland, and the EU.
Hempture abides by Irish and EU law. Regulation (EC) 1672/2000 states that cannabis sativa plants containing 0.2% tetrahydrocannabinol or less can be approved for cultivation as hemp. The crop is grown under strict licence from the relevant government department.
6) What’s the difference between Hemp and Marijuana?
Scientifically and genetically, industrial Hemp and Marijuana can be the same plant, with a genus and species name of Cannabis Sativa. Industrial Hemp is always a strain of Cannabis sativa, while marijuana can be Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, or Cannabis ruderalis. The major difference is how industrial hemp has been bred compared to a marijuana form of Cannabis sativa. Industrial hemp is very fibrous, with long strong stalks, and barely has any flowering buds, while a marijuana strain of Cannabis sativa will be smaller, bushier, and full of flowering buds. Marijuana, 99% of the time, has a high amount of THC and only a very low amount of CBD.
Hemp, on the other hand, naturally has a very high amount of CBD, and naturally has a low, trace amount of THC. Fortunately, the cannabinoid profile of hemp is ideal for people looking for benefits from cannabis without the ‘high.’
Hemp is used for making medicinal remedies, food, fiber, rope, paper, bricks, oil, natural plastic, and so much more. Whereas marijuana is usually used just recreationally, spiritually, and medicinally.
*Our hemp derived, Hempture CBD oil blends are sometimes referred to by people as cannabis oil, as the term cannabis can technically describe hemp or marijuana, and in our case cannabis oil is obviously being used to describe our hemp oils.
7) Is CBD from Hemp as good as CBD from marijuana?
The short answer is yes. CBD is CBD, whether from marijuana or hemp. Most marijuana has a very low cannabidiol profile, so most of the time hemp would be much more preferable regarding CBD potency because it naturally has such a high amount of it.
There are however certain strains of marijuana that are being grown with a very high CBD content, but this is presently very rare. And the few growers that do have high CBD marijuana strains are struggling to provide for all the people in need due the legal status of marijuana. Our CBD percentage from hemp is still comparable to these high CBD marijuana strains, and will soon actually surpass them. So, hemp is not just an ideal alternative to marijuana, but is most of the time the preferable choice.
*The cannabis strain Charolotte’s Web is now considered a variety of hemp, which flies in the face of a common misconception that marijuana is a better source of CBD than hemp, being that Charlotte’s Web gave CBD the very popularity it is now experiencing. THC and CBD tend to balance each other out, ratio-wise, in cannabis plants, so if enough breeding attention is given to increasing CBD levels, the THC levels will naturally fall and eventually you will have a harvest that will be under 0.2% THC on a dry-weight basis, making it fall within the definition of Industrial Hemp. Hemp is truly a wonderful source of cannabidiol (CBD), as is obvious from our quality and the feedback we’ve received from thousands of different people.
9) What’s the percentage of cannabidiol in your product?
Our base CBD extracts have varying percentages of CBD content. Our main product contains 0.2-03% CBD Oil. We use our own Irish grown crops, and on occasion to fulfil large orders we import 100% Organic Hemp grown outdoors from EU countries, under different climate conditions, so there is naturally a variance in the final biochemical composition of the oil extracts.
Every batch of Hempture CBD oil is sent for independent cannabinoid testing to some of the most advanced and internationally recognised laboratories in the world for HPLC analysis. Lab results can be viewed here.
This however has no effect on how much pure cannabidiol (CBD) goes into each bottle of oil. So if we have a 20% extract, we’ll put twice as much of that extract in a bottle compared to if we used a 40% extract. The final amount of actual cannabidiol (CBD) in a bottle will always be the same despite the variation in percentage.
10) What is the best method of CBD oil ingestion?
As a dietary supplement we can only recommend our hemp oil blends for internal consumption.
11) What’s the ideal serving size for me, and how often should I take it?
The ideal serving size for different circumstances is not exactly known. A crucially important factor to be acknowledged when considering this question is that most of the studies and research being performed on CBD use an isolated form of synthetic cannabidiol. Our whole plant, hemp derived CBD oil is different, and works in conjunction with the trace amounts of CBN, CBC, THC and other cannabinoids in hemp, which apparently has a dramatically more powerful effect than an isolated, synthetic form of CBD. According to seemingly competent sources, the serving size of isolated CBD far exceeds what’s needed from a whole plant CBD extract, the latter of which we carry.
Also worth mentioning is that the weight of the person may play a role in how the CBD effects the body. A 40 pound child most likely won’t need the same amount as a 250 pound man to gain a similar result.
There is a lot of room for experimentation with figuring out a good serving for you or your loved one. Phtyochemical constituents from hemp (like CBD) are some of the safest in the world, and there hasn’t been seen any major side effects that we’ve ever seen or heard of. So there is a lot of wiggle room in figuring out what works best for you. What’s necessary and what works may vary greatly from person to person.
One last note on this topic that is absolutely worth sharing is that your body will build up a storage of cannabidiol in the body, which is unlike most chemicals. So unlike alcohol, which is usually absent from the blood stream and body within 24-48 hours after ingestion, cannabidiol can stay bound to the cells of the body for weeks. This is important to know because after a few weeks of using CBD oil a lesser amount may be required to gain effects similar to the original servings. So, the first few weeks are a prime time to have a high serving size, and you can incrementally lower the serving size over time while still having potentially equivalent results because of your body’s storage of CBD.

12) What is the safety of cannabidiol and your Hemp CBD oil? Are there negative side effects?
Cannabidiol (CBD), and other phytochemical constituents of cannabis are considered to be generally safe. In hemp’s thousands of years of use there has not been one recorded fatality or major illness contributed to it’s use that we know of.
In high servings some people can experience a slight sedative effect.
In very high servings (upwards of 200mg of CBD per serving) some people experience what’s being labeled as Dysphoria, an unpleasant emotional state. This is incredibly rare though, and has only been mentioned when using abnormally high amounts of CBD.
13) Why do people use CBD oil? CBD oil benefits and uses?
In accordance with various regulations we can not make health claims regarding Hempture CBD oil, hemp oil, or any dietary supplement. Please refer to an informational source that isn’t involved with the sales of any dietary supplements, and is a trusted educational source for cannabidiol research. People from all walks of life with greatly varying circumstances are using our CBD oil.
14) Is a standard hemp seed oil the same as a high CBD content CBD oil?
Absolutely not. Standard hemp oil, which can be found very cheaply at a grocery store, is a much different product than our Hemp CBD oil. Standard hemp oil is produced by cold pressing the seeds, whereas our CBD extract is a supercritical CO2 extraction of the hemp plant itself. Regular hemp oil is considered to be a great nutritive food, and may provide benefits for certain ailments, but it only has a trace amount of CBD in it, and it is the CBD that is being so widely recognized and studied for it’s potentially far reaching abilities. We emulsify our CBD extract into hemp seed oil, but it is the CBD that is undoubtedly the main ingredient that makes our Hempture CBD oils stand out.
15) Do I need to move to Ireland to get CBD oil? Where do you ship your CBD oil?
Many people are under the impression that the only way to acquire cannabidiol oil for themselves or a loved one is to move to certain countries and get on the waiting lists for CBD from dispensaries and such. Many big news outlets are misinformed and are unfortunately spreading this idea, that you can only get CBD in the countries where medical marijuana has been legalized. This is simply not the case though, because our CBD comes from hemp.
We ship to Ireland and most EU countries. We don’t fully know the CBD/hemp laws of some other countries, so it is up to the consumer to know their country’s laws and whether they should be ordering CBD oil there or not before they contact us for consultancy. We are not responsible if an international customer orders from us and the product is taken at his or her country’s customs control.

16) Is your CBD hemp oil similar to Rick Simpson Hemp Oil?
They are similar, as the hemp oils and potential effects are similar looking and acting. But our Hemp CBD oil is more highly standardized than one produced through the Rick Simpson method. And oils produced through Ricks method will usually have a much higher THC content.
Rick Simpson Hemp Oil is actually more a method of extraction than it is a specific product. People use the Rick Simpson method with hundreds of different strains of marijuana, so the THC and CBD content of the final oil is always varying greatly, depending on the cannabis the consumers are acquiring. Usually what’s used for Rick Simpson oil is a strain with an inferior CBD content (and high THC), because that’s what the vast amount of marijuana is nowadays. And because our Hemp (not marijuana) is naturally high in cannabidiol (CBD) the CO2 oil extract consistently has a high amount of CBD and only trace amounts of THC.
Our product is always made from industrial hemp, and Rick Simpson Hemp Oil from marijuana. Because our CBD hemp oil is highly standardized and the CBD content is always the same high amount, it is much more useful in trying to figure out a proper regimen and serving size. Both Rick Simpson Hemp Oil and Hempture CBD Hemp Oil are being used for similar reasons, and both are getting similar feedback as to the success stories being reported.
Cannabidiol Definitions
We understand that there are some confusing terms related to Cannabidiol, so we wanted to take the time to explain them to you. Below is a list of the most important terms to understand related to Cannabidiol:
Cannabis – A type of flowering plant that includes three distinct variations: Cannabis ruderalis, Cannabis indica, and Cannabis sativa. Cannabis has a wide range of industrial and medical applications. It has been used since antiquity for its sturdy fiber, for oils, and for medicinal purposes. However, it has also been used as a recreational drug, a fact that renders the cultivation of cannabis strictly regulated because of some variations including high concentrations of THC.
Hemp – Hemp refers to the high-growing varieties of cannabis that are grown to be specifically used for fiber, oil, and seeds. These are then refined into numerous products including wax, resin, cloth, pulp, paper, rope, fuel, and hemp oil.
Cannabinoids – A very diverse chemical family that includes natural as well as artificially created substances. Different cannabinoids have widely varied effects, with some cannabinoids proven to have medically beneficial effects and others classified as illegal drugs.
CBD – A naturally occurring cannabinoid, and the second most abundant constituent of the Cannabis plant. CBD is legal and safe to consume, yet has long been in the shadow of THC.
THC – The most abundant constituent of the cannabis plant and a strongly psychoactive cannabinoid, THC is responsible for getting “high” from smoking marijuana and, as a result, its production and usage are strictly regulated.
Psychoactive – Any chemical substance that can enter the brain from the bloodstream and directly affect the central nervous system is considered psychoactive. Many psychoactive substances have medical applications (such as anesthetics, psychiatric drugs, etc.), but some of these substances are used solely for recreation, causing dangerous side effects and addiction.
