Agaricus subrufescens is a species of edible mushroom known for its active chemical components that contribute to human health maintenance and illness healing, including its use in natural therapies for cancer prevention and treatment. It is associated with various beneficial effects and is a source of bioactive compounds, such as polysaccharide protein complexes, which exhibit antioxidant and anticancer properties.
There have been many studies showing the anti-tumor activity of this mushroom. The identification of (novel) immunomodulating bioactive compounds in Agaricus subrufescens may also help in finding treatments for patients suffering from cancer and immunodeficiency.
